In brief

Free access made Google DeepMind's Gemini API (Google AI Studio) an argument for putting AI to practical use. Two posts in r/LocalLLaMA and r/ClaudeAI described building useful apps with AI Studio without paying, including work for business administration. Two posts in r/SideProject described the free Gemini API as a way to support their own projects. Two posts in r/SideProject and r/ClaudeAI described free plans with usage quotas, setting out the restrictions alongside accounts of what they could build or run without paying.

Two posts in r/Bard and r/ClaudeAI pointed to using AI Studio for free. Separately, Gemini API (Google AI Studio) ranked on Reddit, close to OpenAI API. Its model family Gemini drew much broader Reddit discussion, with people compared with for Gemini API (Google AI Studio).
