Its pitch makes the agent the fixture and the model the part to swap. A user who pointed their Claude interface at OpenRouter found it cleared out their native Anthropic models and history, and asked how to keep one copy for Anthropic and one for open models. What people hold on to, in these accounts, is the interface; the model behind it is up for negotiation.
In one telling the lease runs both ways. A short video warns that Anthropic depends on Amazon and Google for most of its revenue, and that neither is locked into a long-term contract.
